Eliana Brown, University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign
C. Eliana Brown is a water quality and stormwater specialist within University of Illinois Extension’s Natural Resources, Environment, and Energy (NREE) Team and Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant. She provides innovative, science-based programming about water issues including Green Stormwater Infrastructure and watershed science. She leads the development of stormwater outreach materials, serves as the Director of the Red Oak Rain Garden, coordinates the rain garden and watershed steward programs for Illinois, and chairs the Illinois Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy’s Urban Stormwater Working Group. Before joining Illinois Extension, Eliana coordinated the University’s Stormwater Program (MS4) and was an Environmental Protection Engineer with the Illinois EPA.
Eliana has a master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a focus on water quality and treatment. She is certified through the National Green Infrastructure Certification Program, which she teaches through Parkland College, and is an Illinois Master Gardener.

Lisa Merrifield, University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign
Lisa Merrifield is the sustainable community specialist within University of Illinois Extension’s Community and Economic Development Team. She works with University of Illinois faculty, Extension specialists, Extension Educators and community leaders to identify opportunities and approaches that help local governments and organizations address the challenges they face. Prior to joining Illinois Extension, Lisa served as assistant director for the Illinois Water Resources Center and Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant and as the executive director of the Great Lakes Regional Pollution Prevention Roundtable. Lisa has over 20 years of experience working to build sustainability in Illinois and around the Great Lakes. She has a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and a Master’s degree in Urban Planning with a focus on natural resource planning.

Shelly Nickols-Richardson, University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign
Dr. Sharon M. “Shelly” Nickols-Richardson, PhD, RD, serves as an associate dean and director of Extension and Outreach in the College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois. In this role, Dr. Nickols-Richardson defines the strategic vision for Illinois Extension and leads a team of passionate faculty and staff in their efforts to positively impact the lives of Illinois families. She joined the faculty at UIUC in July 2013 as Professor and Head of the Food Science Human Nutrition Department. She has taught courses in the areas of Community Nutrition, Nutrition Across the Life Span, Nutritional Assessment, Alternative and Complementary Nutrition Therapies, and Maternal and Child Nutrition.
