One Water Action Forum: Registration Now Open!
Registration is now open for the One Water Action Forum taking place in Indianapolis, December 11th-13th.
The forum is a partnership between the North Central Region Water Network, Soil and Water Conservation Society, Iowa Soybean Association, and US Water Alliance to bring together researchers, educators, practitioners, and policy-makers to advance more connected and cohesive approaches to water and watershed management in the North Central Region. Together, will work to deepen the one water conversation, localize lessons learned by delegates and attendees of the National 2018 One Water Summit, and take steps to put one water to action in the Midwest.
“We are thrilled to be working with the Soil and Water Conservation Society, Iowa Soybean Association, and US Water Alliance. What makes the one water concept so valuable is that it integrates diverse partners to create sustainable solutions,” notes Rebecca Power, Director of the North Central Region Water Network. “We hope people from all sectors and disciplines will join us in Indy, because we need all voices to be a part of the one water conservation.”
The first day of the forum will feature workshops on climate, youth water leadership, and conservation finance. The climate workshop is hosted by our climate team, the North Central Climate Collaborative, and will focus on integrating climate-informed decision-making into programming and outreach. The workshop will have sessions dedicated to exploring how climate impacts agriculture, communities, and human health as well as sessions on communicating climate and youth engagement in climate.
Along with a number of plenaries, the second and third days of the forum will feature a series of working sessions on sustainable water supply, watershed management, water infrastructure, soil health, diversity, equity and inclusion and more. Each working session will share new knowledge or perspectives, and allow time for attendees to discuss opportunities and challenges to approaching specific water topics in a more integrated, inclusive, and sustainable manner. Working sessions will also provide time for participants to explore how we can establish creative collaborations addressing water-related issues moving forward. The results of the working sessions will then be compiled to help create a One Water Action Agenda for the North Central Region.
In addition to attending, you are also invited to submit an abstract for presentation at the forum. We are looking for posters that focus on successful partnerships and share approaches to water protection that can be replicated by other groups. We are particularly interested in posters that detail nontraditional, cross-sector partnerships. The deadline to submit your poster is October 12th.
