The Great Lakes: Tackling Challenges Today and Beyond

The Great Lakes: Tackling Challenges Today and Beyond annual conference will take place on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the Kellogg Center on the Michigan State University campus in East Lansing, MI.  The conference will address some of the major benefits that the Great Lakes provide as well as challenges that they continually face. Topics include legislative developments with ballast water and invasive species; fish diseases and their impacts on the Great Lakes; reclaiming Detroit’s industrial waterfront; forecasting harmful algal blooms (HABs); a sneak preview of a new PBS production on HABs, and other Great Lakes topics.

Cost to attend is $15 in advance or $20 at the door. There is no charge for full-time students. Sponsors are Michigan State University’s Department ofJ Fisheries and Wildlife, Institute of Water Research, Michigan Sea Grant Extension, MSU Extension, and Water Resources Division, Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE). Funding is partially provided by the Water Resources Research Program, US Geological Survey.
