Converting Photons into Biomass: Implications for Controlled Environment Agriculture

Supplemental or sole-source light can account for a significant fraction (up to 30%) of total production costs in greenhouses and plant factories. Developing more efficient and effective lighting strategies can help to bring these costs down and improve profitability of controlled environment agriculture.
