Effective Implementation of Municipal Construction Site Erosion Control Programs Case Study: City of Kenosha

Wisconsin is slowly thawing out after another colder than average winter, which means construction season must be just around the corner! This program will focus on construction site erosion control at the municipal level. DNR municipal storm water discharge permits require permitted municipalities to develop, implement and enforce a program to reduce the discharge of sediment from construction sites.   Municipal programs must establish procedures for issuing permits, conducting site inspections and enforcing proper erosion and sediment control on construction sites. Our DNR speakers will identify and discuss the features of an effective program including why construction site erosion control is important and the features of an effective program. Our case study speaker will discuss how the City of Kenosha runs their program including an overview of their permit process, ordinance and enforcement.
