Jodi Delozier, North Dakota State University

Jodi Delozier is one of two new Program Coordinators, Conservation Leadership and Planning for North Dakota State University (NDSU). She came to ND State in March from Lincoln, Nebraska where she completed her Ph.D. in Natural Resource Sciences. Jodi’s degree also includes a specialization in Human Dimensions which focuses on understanding the social aspects of natural resource management. Her research examined the role of a Boundary Spanner as it pertains to community stakeholder engagement with particular emphasis on issues dealing with water and agriculture management practices.

Jodi holds a Master’s degree in German Linguistics and Literature from the University of Nebraska and spent many years teaching German at both the college and secondary levels. She was a German Lecturer for Mount Union College and University of Akron in Ohio. Prior to moving to Fargo, she completed a second master’s degree in Natural Resource Sciences and worked closely with the Nebraska Water Leaders Academy. Jodi not only helped facilitate relationship-building among participants, but currently serves as an Academy presenter.

Tom Scherer, North Dakota State University

Tom SchererTom Scherer was raised on a dairy farm in central Minnesota. He served six years in the US Navy and obtained bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Minnesota.

From 1980 to 1983 he worked for the State of Minnesota as a public health Engineer. From 1987 to 1991 he was an assistant professor and irrigation specialist with the University of Arizona.

In 1991, he began working for the NDSU Extension. He is responsible for leadership and development of statewide educational programs involving irrigation systems and management, onsite wastewater (septic) systems, private water delivery and treatment systems, drainage, and water resource management.
